Kiva Confections has been in the edible game since 2010, and over the last decade, it has secured a spot at the top of its trade in California’s cannabis scene. My experience with the brand has always been overwhelmingly positive. With its flavor consistency and winning 3:1 CBD:THC ratio, Kiva’s Camino Sparkling Pear gummies have become a bona fide staple in my stash, an essential treat for easing into a weeknight and drifting to sleep without overdoing it on the THC.
There’s always an elegance and palpable confidence with which Kiva pairs quality flavors and non-cannabis ingredients with a strong, nuanced cannabis effect. Call me crazy, but regardless of the type of cannabis plant I’m consuming, I like to feel that my experience is rooted in the plant. What I mean is, a half-assed gummy sprayed with cheap weed oil is not my idea of a great time, no matter how potent the “high” is. The more of the integrity of the plant you preserve, the more nuanced the high, and the closer you are to a physical and psychotropic experience authored by Mother Nature.
Kiva Confections’ new Lost Farm line seems to doube down on this concept, boasting strain-specific, plant-based gummies and chews infused with 100% live resin. Advertised as “full-sensory, ultra-fresh, and extra-strength,” the Lost Farm gummies and chews are clearly meant to denote a powerful edible experience that permeates the senses since there’s minimal barrier between you and the source plant material.
So let’s unwrap some Lost Farm chews and see how they measure up to Kiva’s other top-notch edibles. For this review, we’ll be looking at the Lost Farm watermelon and blueberry flavors, made with live resin from Gelato and Blue Dream strains, respectively.
First impressions
Visually, the Lost Farm Fruit Chews are immediately attractive. The resealable baggies of ten chews burst with colors, bold fonts, and intricately designed nature and science icons that evoke turn-of-the-century cannabis and tobacco packaging. I was particularly impressed with the brief yet informative description of live resin and its relevance to the product on the back of the package.
The individually wrapped chews give off some serious Now and Later vibes at first glance. It’s all visually deep and rich and full of ideas in a way that compliments the actual experience.

Flavor
When I opened my package of watermelon chews, the first thing I noticed was the potent smell akin to the olfactory sensation of opening a fresh eighth of flower (though not quite as strong) rather than a bag of your average weed candy. The texture of the candy also matched Now and Laters, only softer and a little easier to chew.
Flavor-wise, the watermelon taste was sufficiently fruity, yet earthy enough to compliment the inevitable cannabis oil taste you get with a sweet weed treat.
Effectiveness
I’m a daily consumer, usually in the form of joints rolled with sun-grown, 13–18% THC flower, so my THC tolerance is fairly high without being completely maxed out. Though 10-milligram THC candies usually aren’t enough for me to feel like I got the full breadth of the intended effect, I decided to start off with just one chew to see how it would go over, then up the ante to two chews at 20 milligrams THC when trying the blueberry flavor described below. And though it did eventually take two chews for me to feel like I got the full Lost Farm experience, I found the potency of the one watermelon chew to be more than effective and enjoyable.
Experience
I started noticing the effect of the watermelon chew about 40 minutes after consumption. It was a mildly social evening at home and I had some family in town for a visit. For the next couple of hours I felt a slow, creeping head buzz that sat with me and allowed me to enjoy the evening playing games and catching up with my folks. It elevated my mood, relaxing my shoulders and back without sending me further inward, as a lot of high-power edibles tend to do.

Flavor
Just like the watermelon chews, Kiva’s blueberry chews have a sweet fruit flavor that blends well with the inevitable cannabis oil flavor you get from a weed candy. With lower-quality edibles, especially gummies, the cannabis taste can be overly “chemically,” which is never what you want. When you get hints of cannabis in the Lost Farm chews, you get something more like a natural plant flavor, which is always a good sign.
Effectiveness
As I mentioned above, I decided to take my THC tolerance into account with the blueberry chews and took two pieces at the start at 20 milligrams total THC to get a better handle on the full effect of the product. If you’re a less frequent consumer, your THC tolerance is moderate-to-low, or if you’re trying the Lost Farm chews for the first time, practice due diligence and start with one 10-milligram chew, then wait 90 minutes to feel the full effects before you take more.
Experience
Again, in a similar fashion to the watermelon chews, it took about 40 minutes for me to feel the full effect. When it came on, it came on strong, but not in an uncomfortable jolt as can happen with a high-potency edible.
The onset was smooth but thick — an immersive hyper-sensory sedation that had me well occupied and entertained through the entire runtime of Fear Street Part One: 1994 on Netflix. With potent edibles, you kinda have to do a dance between enjoyable psychoactivity and creeping anxiety during the peak. But even at my highest, the blueberry chew kept me pretty sedated and happy without being overly sleepy, and I was able to enjoy a tranquil yet powerful buzz for the remainder of the evening.
Bottom line
A good edible should offer a streamlined experience without diluting the high that the plant provides. If you’re looking for a nuanced, powerful high from a discreet product that permeates the body and mind while honoring the perpetual wonder of the cannabis plant, I don’t think you’ll do better than the Lost Farm line from Kiva.
