Press Release: The Cannabis Farmers Alliance Responds to Actions Taken By the New York State Cannabis Control Board

Hemp Cultivation, Processing & Extraction News, Hemp Legalization & Regulatory News for Hemp Businesses

The Cannabis Farmer’s Alliance extends its gratitude and thanks to Governor Kathy Hochul, the Cannabis Control Board, and the Office of Cannabis Management for heeding our call to waive licensing fees for the State’s conditional cultivators as we transition to full licensure.

Per the Cannabis Control Board:

“Adult-Use Conditional Cultivators (AUCCs) applying to transition to full licensure have demonstrated sufficient need for financial assistance in order to waive the applicable license fees due to the unusual and unique circumstances faced by the New York State cannabis market, which has resulted in severe financial distress for AUCCs including the difficulty of selling cannabis crops grown in 2022.”

Joseph Calderone, Acting President/Co-Founder of the Cannabis Farmers Alliance (CFA) said: “This recognition of the severe financial distress of cannabis farmers is critical in establishing a thriving cannabis industry in New York. We welcome the actions of the Cannabis Control Board to provide much-needed financial relief and look forward to additional actions in the Enacted Budget for cannabis farmers. This progress will plant the seed for future growth, and we encourage our State’s leadership to continue nurturing our nascent industry.”
