Former Stiiizy Inc. employee files suit, says company pays below minimum wage

A former Stiiizy Inc. employee said the cannabis company’s policy of paying hourly employees per trimmed marijuana plant often results in a rate below minimum wage, according to a lawsuit filed in California state court.

Worker Christian Segura said Stiiizy paid him $2.50 per cannabis plant he took care of. He was on average able to get to 28 plants each day, he said, netting him $70 in daily wages.

Employees regularly worked 10 to 12 hour shifts between 4 a.m. and 6 p.m. without proper overtime pay or rest breaks, Segura’s complaint filed Thursday in California Superior Court, Los …
