Will CBD show up in a drug test?
One common question that people ask is whether or not CBD can cause you to fail a drug test. This question is somewhat tricky to answer because of a number of variables.
If someone were to go get a home testing kit designed to test for THC, they may experience a false-positive result. Unfortunately, these sorts of tests often cannot distinguish between CBD from THC. They are simply not sophisticated enough to differentiate the two cannabinoid molecules.
Another potential issue when it comes to testing that might occur in a lab is cross-contamination. This is one of the most common causes of false positives. The lab industry struggles to produce consistent results.
THC-Free does not mean zero THC
Sanjay Gupta did a show called Weed 5. In this documentary program, it was noted that if someone takes a full spectrum product that includes THC for 5 days of consistent use, they may test positive for THC. Testing positive for THC and failing a drug test are two separate things. Sporting organizations and employers typically have a threshold level for failing a drug test. Testing positive for THC but having less than those base levels in your system shouldn’t cause you to fail a drug test.
No Guarantee
THC-Free does not mean there is no THC in the product. The level is so low that it’s legally able to be called THC-Free. So even though this THC level is negligible, it is still unwise to tell customers that there is absolutely zero THC in the products.
