Great news to see the courts working with LPP . Kudos to both parties.

Let’s hope other state judiciaries follow suit

We are honored to have been invited by Chief Justice Recktenwald of Hawai’i to join the Clean Slate Expungement Task Force created by Act 241.

The task force will work to develop a state-initiated record clearing program that:

✅ Expands access to employment and education opportunities
✅ Promotes equity and fairness by removing barriers within the criminal legal system that disproportionally impact marginalized communities
✅ Enhances public safety by adopting best practices for clearing records that have been linked to a reduction in recidivism
✅ Streamlines the procedures involved in the record clearance process to reduce the time and resources required by the various state entities

Despite being decriminalized in 2019, nearly 40,000 individuals in Hawai’i carry a criminal record for cannabis possession.

We look forward to continuing our work to bring justice to those individuals and all criminalized by the War on Drugs.
